Nesseria - Fractures - LP (2014)

Labels: Grains Of Sand – Throatruiner – trendkill
Review by: Kunal Nandi

Zut alors, France is killing it right now when it comes to gnarly metallic hardcore that likes to chuck in the odd grindy blast or sudden shift into hefty slabs of doom, all overhung with a generally nihilistic and very, very serious ambiance. Cowards, Sofy Major, Stuntman, Pord, Plebeian Grandstand, The Rodeo Idiot Engine and the like are all flying the flag right now. Nesseria I feel are elder statesmen in comparison as they approach a decade in the record releasing and touring game. As you might expect, there is an epic, cataclysmic quality to their particular style that more often than not bursts out into punk blasts of a rocking variety, so not unlike Converge (a lazy comparison, but man, that band casts a long shadow even nowadays) and while it is technical, there are good doses of humanity shining through. The shredded vocals sound very cool indeed (always nice to get shouted at in French) and everything has a clarity that really makes the melodies ring and the chaos swirl. Formidable.
