Nottingham's heritage of great HC punk is well established and whilst people tend to look backwards for it, there`s the likes of EGS to keep it propelling forward. Since their last outing EGS have parted with singer Pat and trimmed down to a three piece. It doesn't make a massive amount of difference to me, and whilst I thought Pat was a great singer, Gords is well up to the task. Two full bore onslaughts here which follow a similar pattern to previous efforts like the excellent `fear, ignorance, control` EP.

The songs on this are as usual fast HC Punkers with bass high in the mix and enough rawness in the drums and guitars to make you want to jump about like a loon. Whilst this is called `endless grinning spirits` as a nod to Japanese punk, the sound is firmly rooted in the UK. Lyrics dripping with despair and frustration over these two songs `Am I right or am I wrong?` and `This machine kills bullies`. If you've met singer Gords knows he doesn't mince his words. The cover and insert art is odd and personally I don`t really care for the front sleeve but thats in no way something that should stop you getting this beauty. Released on the guitarist Andy's label, this is another great D.I.Y release from EGS. Look out for another full length LP sometime soon.
