This is a total half hour of power from these sweaty Texans. Discovering how to make fire and the wheel are all well and good, but let's face it, the "chug" is the single greatest invention humankind has managed so far. Power Trip wield it like a keen sword, hitting their stride on their second album.

You have to be real smart to make music this deceptively simple, that resists the temptation to get overly cerebral with a ton of catchiness and taste. It's wall-to-wall bangers, best exemplified by the title track where a pinpoint machine-gunned riff is played on one fucking note with a proper punk strut to it. You don't need anything more. The number one thing is that it is F-U-N and that is fine.

Someone give drummer Chris Ulsh a MacArthur Grant. Given his involvement with Impalers, Mammoth Grinder, Vaaska, Iron Age and Hatred Surge it would be a crying shame if he stopped making music.

Cold and collected and focussed, like metal should be.
