Isn't the point of a discog to put all a band's releases in one place? So I'm not sure why this is only part one (also, is anyone else worried that two digits are used to write it) - maybe Aston is trying to maximise the number of reviews he can get out of me. Older Than Dirt start out sounding a bit like the Dead Kennedys on their demo tape, both in the guitar sound and the pacing of the vocals (different delivery of course). Their sound changes as they proceed into their first 'flexi' 7", then their stand alone comp track 'All Or Nothing' too, and on their 'New Age Of Rage' 7" too. Bands are meant to improve over the years, perhaps reaching a peak, but my favourite songs here are the demo tape! It's got more going on; later songs like Waster even seem like they've lost their punk edge. Actually, after I wrote that it had a killer ending. There's some live tracks at the end; overall this is decent early nineties hardcore punk but you've really gotta be into the genre to go for it (the equivalent of buying the Index For Potential Suicide discog, an analogy which is gonna help no one). I still look forward to hearing part two; maybe throw in a lyric booklet next time.
