This is a band I've somehow previously missed - I thought I'd heard most bands that Odd Box had released music by, but alas. However, this one has been an instant hit with me. Catchy, fuzzy, poppy punk rock stuff full of energy and a healthy influence from the Riot Grrl scene - the title of the album gives that away and the title track itself is a raucous and anthemic ode to Kathleen Hanna with a Julie Ruin-esque sound. There's plenty of variation here too as they combine this punkier sound with something altogether more indie pop. The louder, faster songs are in contrast to the lighter, offbeat tracks like "Man O'War", which is a fuzzy, quirky and brilliant, waltzing pop song, and "Rainbows Don't End" which is dreamlike and sad. It's a great start to 2018 to hear an album like this one in the first few weeks of the year.
