I'm only vaguely familiar with this band having heard the track on their split with Remember Sports last year but this new LP is a good way to get properly acquainted and it's been a real grower for me over the last few weeks. They play kind of dreamy, hazy stuff that leans more to the dream pop end of the shoegaze spectrum, whilst things get more grungy on tracks like "Syrup" and "Ortega". These tracks precede perhaps the standout song, "Big Train", which is pensive and introspective but with a big hook. The second half of the album starting with "Restart" is particularly strong with the lovely "Shannon" one of the highlights, and the wistful and restrained "Blue Room" is an ideal track to end the album on. Good things happening on Father/Daughter Records lately.
