This one opens with a creaking vocal that reminds me of The Novas yelling "rrrrrrraaiid!" before, more's the pity, descending into some sludgy, rather familiar-sounding post-metal. The riffs are sturdy and the songs demonstrate a fair degree of dynamism and versatility, but I'm ultimately left unable to shake the feeling that they, like me, have put in a good deal of time with records like '...And Justice For All' and 'Through Silver In Blood'. That's all fine of course – noble, even – but when the overriding impulse you're left with is to return to those old classics rather than this new effort then something is likely slightly amiss.
