I've had this in my house for ages, I'm terrible. Anyway, its about time I got around to reviewing it. Kids Explode play a fairly rough and grooving brand of emo with screamed vocals, plentiful melodies and a fair whack of effort. The opening song "Belladonna" builds up, driving out more energy as it goes onwards. Solid start. They bounce from that into "No.8" which has what I always think of as the "sass rhythm", its something in the drum beat, reminds me of the first Rye Coalition lp in that sense, otherwise they have a more traditional Euro-emo sound. The harsh vocals particularly make me think of older French bands, mixed with a bit of Raein perhaps. There are 6 tracks overall on here and in general it is all pretty solid. There's something to build on, and the songs are enjoyable enough, especially when you consider that its a demo and the first efforts of a new band. Its good to see folks hanging in there with cassette demos.
