There is a jukebox in a pub in Norwich that has Wire's 12XU on it. When I am in there I am generally quite drunk, but I always put that song on there as if to say "I am pretty fucking cool". No-one has yet complemented me on just how fucking cool I am though. 12XU are definitely pretty fucking cool, and this 7" I have failed to review since July. And this barely passes muster as a review anway. There are two more songs of their dashed fine (post) punk on here. Urgency, melody and goodness all feature. The music is kind of somewhere between Tubers and Snuffy Smiles. Both of these songs are belters. Hopefully one day someone will compile all their shit into one helpful 12", who has time to repeatedly flip 45s with one song per side these days? That's just not efficient. Not sure what else to add. This band have made plenty of good music, and I get the feeling that not many people noticed, which is a super shame.
