Greenmachine - The Archives Of Rotten Blues - CD (2006)

Blimey, this is heavy, and I don’t just mean that in a throwaway manner. The bloated, thick, planet-smashing distortion slathered all over this is as intrinsic to the music as the use of guitar, bass and drums are. If Torche ever tour Japan, they should borrow these guys’ amps. After being picked up by Boris’ Japanese label after some sort of hiatus, and having two older albums (formerly released on the sometimes legendary Man’s Ruin label) reissued, Greenmachine seem to be back in the saddle a good decade after their inception. “Archives”” is a return to the incredibly raw sound of their debut “”D.A.M.N.”” tempered with the tighter song writing and accessibility of “”The Earth Beater”” to create a heady combination of nasty screaming sludge and absolutely pulverising stoner-rock power. It’s so overwhelmingly heavy with the first few songs blasting by like a V2-powered steamroller
