Hey this is good stuff. Kind of reminds of a slower Discount in a way, probably the female vocals that do that. 3 tracks of nicely played, mid-paced punky emo pop. And from Germany too.
It’s the first few seconds of “Sugarbowl” that make you think you just got a Discount record, Yve starts off singing in total Alison fashion, and the music is that similar sort of jagged pop. A top notch chorus is packed in there too, and it’s a pretty infectious song. Drop in a bit of Get Up Kids style emo-punk too and you have a cool song. It’d be even cooler if they used the backup vocals a bit more – the sound of 3 or 4 German guys going “Whoooo!” is rocking.
The other 2 songs aren’t quite so cool, but still good. “Jacob” begins a bit more jangly and twinkly, showing off 365’s indie side. They do get a bit more aggressive though, and have some cool screamed backups. Solid though, as is “Honeydew”, which slots somewhere between the two songs in style.
Neat little release, and worth your while if you want to pick up a pop record that you wouldn’t normally come across. Nice nice nice.
