Ambulance Ltd - Stay Where You Are - CD (2005)

Labels: TVT
Review by: Andy Malcolm

This is quite nice. It really reminds me of something that I can’t put my finger on. Sort of drifty indie rock with a familiar lilt to the vocals. It’s very floaty and airy in almost shoegazer fashion. The first couple of minutes are a vaguely glitchy electronic intro, before it morphs into the basic indie. Pleasant indeed, without being outstanding. It could quite easily deal with listening to more than a singles worth of this stuff. It has a nice rhythm that drifts onwards and it eases the tired mind. I guess it’s not a million miles away from Death Cab for Cutie, which is no bad thing, but I haven’t listened to Death Cab in ages so maybe I am just clutching at straws. The press-sheet that came with it contains assorted facts that made me want to change my mind and hate the shit out of them, but, I couldn’t. It’s too nice to hate.
