This is pretty damn old (recorded in 2002), but hey. So it pre-dates the 10″ (no songs appear on both records), and was initially released as a demo cassette but I believe it was pressed on vinyl for a tour? It’s mighty rough sounding at times anyway. Retains a heckuva punch though, The 6 tracks here on the one sided vinyl are absolute stormers, packed to the gills with emo violence. The vocals are screamed to bits (though they do throw in a bit of emo sobbing here and there such as on ‘up the contrast’), whilst the music is mostly played at a ferocious speed and force that is making me struggle to come up with a comparison. It’s certainly very exciting and perhaps nods towards the viciousness of Honeywell and the seemingly random thrash of Combatwoundedveteran yet retains way more of a structure than the latter of those dudes. The sheer ramshackle nature is refreshing and the lack of relent (all the songs merge into one gooey mess) knocks me off my feet. I haven’t heard it done like this since the Exelar scorched my face off with their split 12″ last year.
This ain’t no Orchid tribute record. Fucking solid gold emo violence.
