Oh aye, another copyist band. It’s my lucky day. Angels opt for the Sunny Day Real Estate vibe, with indie rock and a vocalist who whines more the Enigk (often in an annoying nasal fashion), and can’t even sing that great either. First song “Team Radio” strikes me as what people into ‘grunge’ would listen to for a little light relief. Lyrically it’s your usual lovelorn emo stuff, nothing spectacular and very simple. Oh, and get a load of the backing vocal guy screaming in the background. Hmm, forced? No, I’m sure he means it. Ask Bedford for lessons guys.
2 other songs here, “110 Reasons” and “Paddington”. The former, more SDREness. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, but there are too many bands who do this sort of thing better. Forgettable. Finally we have “Paddington”. Now this would have been awesome if it had been an ode to the Peruvian bear chap we all know and love, but it’s just another moderate indie rock, pretty love song. Oh, this is not good. Best bit is when it goes dead quiet and they play some Christie Front Drive guitars, and I can’t help but love CFD guitars. Oh well, maybe I’m just not in the mood for this today. Hohum.
Every genre has it’s weak bands. Here is one of emo’s.
