I wouldn’t expect anything other than a solid album from these consistent veterans (hehe) of the UK scene. And this record is exactly that. An enjoyable run through 30 minutes and 10 tracks of catchy, melodic punkage, happily bereft of any ’emo’ pretense or pandering to whatever style is ‘in’ at the moment, this is simply the sound of a sincere band rocking out and kicking out the jams. It may not be stunningly out of the ordinary or different but it is eminently listenable and keeps alive that legacy of other quality UK melodic HC bands like Leatherface, Hooton 3 Car and Broccoli. Although not really sounding like those bands too much, Annalise do fit in with them in a kind of ‘spiritual’ way. Heh. Stand out track for me is the rocking “Next Stop Nowhere” (the intro is sorta Dag Nasty-ish) then it roars into a bit of a belter.
So yep, good quality album. It didn’t blow my mind, but it’s a good listen. Which is pretty much what you want out of this kind of music. Keep on truckin’ Annalise.
