It has been too long!
This new record (ok, its been out a few months) is totally great and maybe his best. Apparently inspired by his trip to the Orient this record has many Eastern touches, from gentle vocals to twangy Oriental melodies.
The beautifully warm introduction leads into a melodic slammer of a record. As with a lot of the City Centre Offices stuff this is very melodic with slight beats and synths spiralling into the listeners skull. The two best tracks are “cry osaka cry” and “pink lilies” which features great vocal work by Kazumi. It is like ambient period Aphex Twin remixing Cornelius. It is also good to see someone bringing the song structure back into electronic music without sounding like the Postal Service. These two beautiful tracks also reminded me of the first track on that So cd as well as some of Tujiko Noriko when she isn’t too out there.
