This is the new headfuck from the mighty Autechre. It takes Cornfield to a new level, it’s harsh and fucking awesome. This comes with a dvd too, which is meant to be good but I don’t own a dvd player.
Three tracks. The first is a build up of crunching noise, it’s ear-piercing and makes me want to move although there are no repetitive beats that I can hear to hold onto. This sounds so good when played loud! The second track is more of the same white noise. It’s not till the third and final track where you hear any real melody (and I don’t mean Jimmy Eat World melody!). Under the almost drum n bass beats is a slight melodic keyboard sound that builds and builds…the tune suddenly decides to speed up and goes nuts. It sounds like what I imagine being on an out of control train veering off the tracks and plunging to its doom would sound like!
If you want something to piss off your neighbours and they’re warming to your Entombed records, seek this out!
