Wow, new material from the ‘tip! Rocking. Saw them do a show up in Cambridge a couple of months back and they totally rocked it, great live band. Can’t be sure if they played this track, “New Shoe Premonition”, but it certainly kicks. They’re developing their DC quirk rock sound from the “Join Us” album here, making an off-kilter, dynamic tune that is both melodic and less than straightforward. Farrell’s vocals are as dominant as ever, leading the song a long on it’s merry dance. You probably already know if you like this band. Only reference point I am privy to is the Burning Airlines album. Like that, like this.

A band called NRA are on the b-side, and they struggle to make an impact on their first song “Adult”, highly basic punk rock that is just not exciting at all. Here is a lyric: “I only wish it was 1976”. This is dull, why not buy the original records? Luckily they up things on “At 9” which is fast paced and rocking pop punk with galloping guitars and a nice slower chorus. For those into bands like Radon and Fay Wray.

Good quality split, Bluetip far superior, but that 2nd NRA track is cool.
