“So,” thinks Martin as he throws the new AT THE DRIVE-IN record in the bin “that was a major disappointment, but I’m sure they still rock live. Now here’s the new BRANDTSON record! Now their first album was amazing! I’m sure this EP is a veritable bounty of emo rock frippery!”. Can you guess what happens next? Yup, that’s right, it’s pretty lame! Whereas AT THE DRIVE-IN turned into a dodgy metal band overnight, BRANDTSON seemed to have evolved into a more “emo” BLINK 182! Bits of it are really good and hint at the special band they can be (again, an AT THE DRIVE-IN comparison), but is overall pretty mediocre. I’m thoroughly disappointed. And guys, having Jesus as the first person in your thanks list is SO last tuesday, maaan…
