Cabaret Voltaire - Nag Nag Nag - 12

This is such a good song, I didn’t really get into Cabaret Voltaire till about a year ago when this (one time) amazing record shop down the road from my house sold a load of stock at half price when it changed hands. I got so many amazing records from there, Kid N Play, Miles Davis, The Pop Group, Ripcord, Septic Death, Judge, Ornette Coleman, Wire, The Slits, Carcass, Side By Side for next to nothing. Sadly it’s a bit shit now. Anyway all the records were like 50p for 7″s (I got every Maiden 7″ for 50p each!) and they had this Cabaret Voltaire 7″ (seconds too late). The cover was totally awesome (looked like a Black Dice record or something?!?) and I knew I had to get it. That 7″ was awesome and ever since Ive loved the Cabs (early stuff!).

This is a well old single but has been re-issued (mainly because of the silly electroclash thing I suppose!) and I’m glad it has as I haven’t got the original. “Nag nag nag” is a droney snotty electro punk song with silly electronic drums and keyboards, they sound like a noisier PiL. The b-side is an up to date take on the track by Richard H kirk the man behind Cabaret Voltaire and Sandoz. Its really good too, more dancey but still dark as fuck. Even if you have the old single I’d get this for the remix, its well good.
