Well, I’m warning you now, I really really fucking love Gameface, those last 3 or so records are amazing and I am totally set in my belief they are up there with Samiam and Jawbreaker in the ‘sad pop punk stuff it’s ok to like’ stakes, though I’m pretty sure I’m alone in that on this wesbite…
For those of you not in the know Jeff Caudill is their ex singer/main songwriter and this is his first solo full length (as far as I’m aware anyway) and as expected it’s pretty rad. It does sound alot like his old band I suppose but a lot more acoustic based and almost kinda jaunty, just enough so to keep it from going too far into u.s. teen drama soundtracking mush, (see also Buffalo Tom) though some of the lyrics are maybe a bit on the Tom Petty sickly wholesome side, but he’s an American which somehow seems to make it ok. No, really……
But yus, highly recomended for summer, even if it is nearly over, damn my lack of motivation to do all this earlier……..
