This 5 track 50 minute long cd made by 8 musicians is definately something that would not be liked by everyone, so im going to try to be as objective as possible when reviewing it, which will be difficult, because it is one of the best things i have heard in ages.
The whole concept of instrumentation seems to be the major element of this record. The same thing is hardly ever used more than once; singing appears every now and again, distortion appears only twice, and many other effects and sounds, ranging from trumpets, flute, violin and piano to feedback and spacey samples sometimes surface just slightly over a wave of layered guitars, reverb filled drums and deep bass, creating a sound somewhere in between slint, mogwai and godspeed you black emperor, with also van pelt esque poetic talking included in probably the best song ‘J.B.O vs. Blin’, and the last song ‘falling pieces part two’. This is the sort of record that could easily be called pretentious, the sort of thing most punk/emo kids would hate, but we live in a pretentious world, and at least cerberus shoal use capital letters in the inlay card.
