Cherubs - A Man of No Importance - CD (2005)

Labels: Cargo
Review by: Gareth L

Here we have the latest band ‘influenced’ by Joy Division. This pretty much sounds exactly like Interpol, Editors, the Bravery and all those other bands that wear suits, have videos in black and white and are ‘cool’. It has the disco drum beat, the herky jerky guitar riffs and the monotone Ian Curtis vocals which only change for the big singalong chorus. Everything is in the right place. The b-side is a little better, a bit more exciting and less predictable but once again I find myself wondering why something as soul-less as this and obviously intended for NME readers gets sent here. Perhaps I’m being too harsh. If you like the bands I mentioned you’ll probably like this band anyway. Myself, I’m not that keen.
