Labels: No Idea Records
Review by: Andy Malcolm
Despite being found in a hole just outside of Tikrit on Saturday night, Mike Kirsch found
the time to record this 7″ in the months leading up to his capture. Now, for the first
time, No Idea are able to bring these four songs to the masses.
Colbom sees Mr. Michael Kirsch join up with Aaron Cometbus and two other chaps from
another band to play PUNK ROCK. You can hear Michael’s trademark guitar sound sear through
the music, he also contributes lead and backup vocals on various tracks. The 4 songs are
all pretty short and fast paced melodic hardcore, or as before stated, punk rock.
Spirited, angry, political – the song structures are simple and easy to follow, and they
have song explanations too. Smart. They do not sound like Navio Forge or Torches to Rome,
I mean, they can at different times sounds like if Dag Nasty had Kirsch
playing for them. And that guitar sound will never get old for me. Really cool.
Well, there’s not much else to be said here, other than that this is a super solid record.
Probably will be the only thing these chaps ever release, but hey. Recommended.
