Collin Kramer - s/t - 7

Labels: self released
Review by: Andy Malcolm

Collin Kramer is German, and you probably haven’t heard / heard of them. That’s not me being all trying

to act cool and shit, because I hadn’t heard of them either, but picked this up after stumbling on

their website. They crank out a pair of tracks on this 7″, “Scattered My Soul” is on side A and it is a

grooving slice of Shotmaker-esque emo. Lots of rumbling guitar, tearful vocals and intensity. It’s

great to hear a band really rocking out in this fashion, I enjoy this style a great deal more than most

“evolutions” (yeah, good one) of the genre. Really cool song, mixing in some sublime, subtler moments where the drumming

and passionate vocals are prominent before they up they pace and kick up the dust. Very fucking

impressive. Over on the B is a song that is a bit more deliberate and it lumbers intensely, kind of reminds me of

early Engine Down but with more screamy vocals. It has some nice breakdown moments too, but I prefer

the other side.

Good 7″ overall! An LP with a bunch more songs would be a good thing for sure.
