As if the last Crom Tech record on Gravity wasn’t enough of a head fuck, they decided it was time to release this new 12″ on DC’s Slowdime label. These two guys utilise guitar and drums in a way which is impossible to describe without witnessing this wacked out shit first hand. Interspersed with the freeform chaos is some new wave influenced high pitched screaming and shouting. To be honest, Crom Tech will only ever appeal to certain people, the whole concept would be a lot for most hardcore fans to stomach. I feel it may be too out there or arty for some to appreciate. Personally speaking I am drawn to this music in some perverse masochistic sense. They pretty much defy description but I would place them in the same category as a band like Storm & Stress. Strangely enough they do share great similarities with an early 90’s Lookout band called Plaid Retina, having the same weird, unsettling approach to creating music. They didn’t bother with song titles this time, which isprobably a good thing because I didn’t understand any of them on the Gravity 12″ (Prux-Norplexoxix anyone????).
