This is incredible!!!
On first listen, this record would probably be cast off as just another SUNNY DAY REAL ESTATE or MINERAL clone for most, if it wasn’t for the overwhelmingly gorgeous vocals. I felt whilst listening that I couldn’t physically do anything else but devote myself entirely to hearing it. Fair enough, the comparisons to SDRE and the rest are plain in the obvious, but CROSSTIDE are definitely right up there. The second song ‘High Wire’ is ace, such a glorious, life-affirming chorus. ‘Black Eyes’ is probably my favorite track on the album. There are hints of bands such as JEJUNE and even SIGUR ROS in the delicate ambience of the mid-sections.
‘Seventeen Nautical Miles’ is by no means anything new under the sun, but it’s well worth checking out.
