A sneaky taster for the new album, after the critical and commercial success (relatively speaking of course) of their debut on Deathwish Inc. and it’s more of the same old, trusty, metal-tinged hardcore punk. Cursed feature several ex-members of the seemingly much-beloved The Swarm, though I think it’s equally telling that Radwan Moumneh from Ire is also present in the line-up, as Cursed apply a thick layer of dense heaviness alongside their furious speed, which makes the whole enterprise sound totally evil at times. “Hell Comes Home” is pretty fast even by Cursed’s own standards, with a spittingly enraged performance by vocalist Chris Colohan, voicing his opinions on the war in Iraq in his usual inimitable style.
Covering The Stooges’ “Search And Destroy” is always going to get a thumbs up from me, as it’s one of my favourite songs. Even the Red Hot Chili Peppers came up with a good version of it! Conversely, you’d better make sure you don’t fuck it up, otherwise I will be deeply upset. Somehow, Cursed come up with a version that doesn’t really affect one way or the other. No idea how that happened.
As usual with Cursed, there is the usual lovely monochrome aesthetic at play in the artwork, as well as white vinyl. Not to sound obvious, but if you’re a fan, you’ll want this puppy.
