Quite a few people seem to be raving about these guys. And I am perplexed as to why. It’s not like they are shit or anything like that, it’s more like that musically they make me think “yes, and?”. Maybe they are amazing live or something. Because on record, they do not stand out from a wealth of any other band that has played this ridiculous random metal type stuff. I am sure that many hipsters into this have long since disowned the Locust or Usurp Synapse or whatever, but really this record is not that far removed from either of those bands. Overall this is 4 songs on 1 side of vinyl, a bunch of dudes play intricate, exceedingly fast messes of sound, go “RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA IIIIIIIII GGGGGGGGG” a lot and smack the fuck out of their instruments. Overall, yeah, this is pretty good and it takes me back a couple of years to when stuff like this was first coming out and sounded fresh. It still sounds brutal and monsterous, but a little of the lustre of this style has been eradicated for me. I’d rather listen to Neil Perry.
Most redeeming feature: the awesome emo part in the middle of the 4 songs.
