Oops, a demo on a 7″. Might have been better for me to hear what they really sounded like before buying this, but never mind.
Quality wise, it sounds like a demo. Way! Maybe that’s why they called the record “demo”. Do you think so? Imagine that the band is playing inside a garage. You are outside the garage, and listening to them. With the door in the way. That’s how the sound quality is. Death Wish Kids play a kind of marauding hardcore punk rock that takes influences from stuff like Swing Kids, Crimson Curse sans keyboards and also some other bands. I am not sure, it’s a little hard to fight through the muffling noise at times. But it’s all very hectic, with yelled, snarling vocals, and lots of blasting guitars and heavy hitting drums. You can definitely tell these songs are cool.
If you liked this band, get this record. I’m not sure I’d recommend it to people coming in cold, like I was, but it’s still pretty good. And you can always marvel at the effect they did with the coloured vinyl and some ink on the non-grooved side. Nice!
