Deerhoof - Milk Man - LP (2004)

Labels: ATP
Review by: Chris Bress

Deerhoof seem to put out almost as many records as Keiji Haino these days, it is silly. It seems like only two weeks since I got ‘apple o’ which was a fine piece of pop nuttiness.

This new record is much more of the same, except it’s a lot better than any of their other stuff. There really isn’t a duff track on this. Their brand of avant-pop takes so many twists and turns on this record visiting jazz, post-punk, math-rock, noise, heavy metal and proper pop. There singer has a great voice and the experimentalism of the music compliments it very well.

If you like the idea of a very talented band somewhere in-between Stereolab and Melt Banana then get this record as it is their best yet and a masterpiece!
