Now let’s not beat around the bush here – Dillinger are the best band in the world. Ask any member of the Collective family, and we all know what we’re talking about. So needless to say I, for one, was jumping up and down when I knew this was gonna be in my stereo. And praise the good lord above for these four Minneapolis boys and their incredible gift to write, play and perform some of the most infectious, well thought out and meaningful music ever to walk the earth.
It’s a lot for a follow-up to live up to, huh?
Well, here it is. 13 2 minute blasts of punk and hardcore edged pop songs. Versus God follows the D4 suit of original sounding licks, odd samples from movies, shows and stuff, a true tendency to rock, and hard, and some of the most thought provoking lyrics you’ll ever come across. I don’t think there’s any way that this album could possibly disappoint.
And it’s kind of clear that it’s not quite as hard hitting as “Midwestern Songs”, their debut. The production isn’t quite as stunning, but I guess it was tough to beat. But the thing is, it doesn’t matter. Dillinger pull it all off by doing what they do best, and making this music is it. Outrageous song titles, the genius of the lyrics and the pure original sound is all you’ll ever need.
You will not ever be able to complain about how shit any other music can possibly be unless you have Dillinger Four to compare it to, because nothing can beat it. Majestic.
Plus, it’s nice that there’s something else the great city of Minneapolis, MN can be noticed for other than the Mall of America.
