The deal with this is you get a five track CD of Billy Bragg covers courtesy of Fueled By Ramen. I confess to knowing very little about Billy Bragg but if he can write lyrics which have as much to say as these five songs do then he has my respect. The Dillinger 4 must feel the same way because I noticed a familiar lyric in the 2nd track, ‘Waiting for the Great Leap Forward’.
‘A Pict Song’ is my personal favourite – its the usual ‘Discount’ sound. I don’t really want to try and describe it because its pretty unqiue but I guess emo orientated pop-punk with female vocals and a faint similarity to J Church might suffice. ‘Help Save The Youth Of America’ and ‘North Sea Bubble’ are equally as fantastic and just as worthy of your attention (just check out the lyrics!!!).
I don’t think Discount can write a bad song and it just shows that when they cover other peoples – they can do them justice as well.
