End on End - euro tour - LP (2004)

Labels: riptide
Review by: Andy Malcolm

I had never heard End on End before, I guess I always expected them to sound like

Rites of Spring because of their name. But they don’t. Instead they sound like any

one of a number of frantic emo bands that exist at the moment, quite often on

Level Plane or similar labels. The songs revolve around harsh screamy vocals and

familiar yet enjoyable melodic guitar work that is cranked out at pace. There are

five songs in total on here, and they rush through them without much relent,

though they do pause now and again to twinkle things up nicely, especially on the

first song. I like the energy and fury that they pump into their songs, it makes

me think that I’d really enjoy them in a live setting, tapping a foot and nodding

along enthusiastically.

Ok, so nothing out of the ordinary here but if you are into bands like Funeral

Diner or Van Johnson and you want more of the good ole screamy emo style then

you’ll be right into this. I thought it was very enjoyable although I probably

have heard too many records like this in the past few years to really appreciate

it in the way that someone with fresher, less tinitus affected, more functional

ears will.
