Flössin - Lead Singer - CD (2005)

Labels: Ache
Review by: Alex Deller

Flössin is, without a doubt, a very hip band. The three of them include Mr Kid 606, a chap from Hella and someone called Christopher Willits who probably also has a list of dazzling credentials crumpled in his back pocket. Musically they’re pretty much what you’d expect “” an abstract skullfuck of manipulated noise veering between calm, textured lowing and hellishly erratic free jazz gobbledegook that causes your brain to froth and leads one to suspect their drummer is not a human but in fact some kind of steam-powered arachnid. For a couple of tracks this does the trick nicely enough, blasting out some cobwebs and disassembling your thought processes in new and interesting ways, but after a while the lack of direction causes the attention to wander before fermenting into the kind of gnawing irritation that could drive a man to unspeakable acts of felony. Chalk it up as another one for those with boundless patience or a habit for buying records they have no intention of ever listening to.
