If you are a connoisseur of brutalhecticscarychaoticscreamometal (and let us face it, who isn’t?) then you really ought to be acquainted with a couple of releases by Forcefedglass. The key ones are the split with the Swarm on EHP, and this one. Musically, they are the sonic equivalent of being beaten up. Vocals are a mix of roars and shrieks, whilst the pounding blast that they force from their instruments is particularly disruptive. They revel in creating a scary as shit atmosphere, much in the same way as Racebannon, whilst the music I would liken to that which would occur if Combatwoundedveteran and Usurp Synapse detonated in the same room. There are no two ways about it, this is uneasy listening of the finest calibre. If I wasn’t immune to this sort of style by now, it would have me running to hide behind the sofa, sticking my fingers in my ears, and cowering in the fetal position until the noise died down – in other words, it’s perfect.
Fall of Leningrad are weird ass. They have two songs here. The first kicks off with 5 seconds of emo twinkle and then they go into this big chunky metalcore riff that is probably just a little too fast to beatdown to, but it definitely gives you the chance to pull off some great poses. And then the rest of the first song alternates between being blistering fast ‘Veteran-core, and more chunky metal breaks with that stupid fast drum sound that metal bands have. The song ends with the sound of several people sounding like they have been trapped in the trash compactor from Star Wars. The second track starts off in a kinda quirky mellow screamo way, reminds me of some band I can’t quite think of. Then it all gets heavy and fast and out of control again. Pretty cool. Just not as good as the other band here.
There’s only one winner here, and it’s Force Fed Fuckin’ Glass. The fact that they don’t exist any more makes me want to break stuff like say, a human skull.
