Forstella Ford - Arecbus vs Archer - 7

Been waiting on this in ages! But at last. Anyways, if you heard the first Forsy Ford record (newbie out on Mountain soon) then don’t expect too much similar here. That album was sorta Braid influenced. This 7″ is sorta whacked.

Two songs on 45rpm, and they do not allow you to sit comfortably. Spastic rhythms, unpredictable starts and stops, a good deal of crunch, and full on screamo vocals in the vein of bands like Saetia and the State Secedes. B-side, “Hindsight is 20/20” still maintains a barely perceptible Braid influence, perhaps in the opening melodic riff, but the rest of the time it is all over the shop, aggressive and troubling. And they stop playing for ages just when you think it’s about to get going. Help! “Asterix Legionaires” is equally quirky, cymbals crash and guitars squeal. There is something vaguely freeform about these tracks, except you can just about make out a structure.

If their album builds on this 7″ like I’d expect it to, then it’ll sure give you something to think about. Screamo hardcore for those who are perpetually on edge.
