Labels: Wild Zero
Review by: Graeme Cunningham
The second release from Wild Zero records features another track from Francis Brady, this time teamed with two tracks from countrymen Eaves. Five piece eaves are another Mob that obviously have one or two Orchid records lurking in their collection. If you’re sick fed up of hearing bands that sound like that (and I know a lot of people are) then this isn’t going to help. However, if its done well, I’m quite happy. First track “gestern ist nicht morgen” is exactly that. Really nice dense driving guitar sound. The second track “versatzenstueck” is less attention grabbing.
Francis Brady broaden their sound from the previous release with a mini epic “Novembet und wir fliehen”. Rising and falling through calm passages into exploding walls of screaming. This is more in the vein of Funeral Diner or Yaphet Kotto than the previous material. But at the same time they maintain a fairly distinct, fresh distillation of the style. The three vocalists really sound like they’re peeling layers of flesh from their throats. You can also pick out the synth a bit better on this recording. I like this, definitely hope to hear more from them soon.
