Cool, Subjugation have a new record out (at last?). First since Spy Versus Spy anyway. The Friends are Swedish, doing pleasant, rocking emo indie with sweet sounding girl vocals, which generally wins me over, call me sucker eh? Helps if it’s done well, but it is that too. Actually, Anna’s singing is so good that it leads me to compare the Friends to a more emo rock Sarge. “The Usual Dilemma” is middling paced, with rocky parts, whilst “Drowning Act” is perhaps a little slower and more a long the lines of, say, maybe a bit of Mineral in the guitars, but not in the least as miserable sounding. Super nice.
