Garrison - The Bend Before The Break - CD (1999)

Labels: Revelation
Review by: Russell Opie

I heard a lot of good things about Garrison and their debut CDEP. There are 5 tracks on here and the running time clocks in at just over 20 minutes. And to say that there was considerable hype would be an understatement. But would they live up to all that I had heard about them?

Garrison could so easily fit on Deep Elm, despite being on Revelation. They mix a blend of powerful screamo-core in the vein of “Planes Mistaken for Stars” with the more soothing emo-rock sound of “Cross My Heart”. And its an impressive combination.

The songs on here will have you revelling for more. Five tracks is just never enough when the music is of this quality. For anyone who particularly likes either of the above bands, or just the “Deep Elm Sound” in general, this is definately worth your money.

Go invest. Go’wan. Go.
