Gold Circles - s/t - 7

Hmm. I can’t really say this is my kind of thing at all. Not in the least. I don’t even know who’s kind of thing this might be. It’s pretty odd. It’s a picture disc though so I guess it looks OK.

The first song is “Goldcircle Dance Song” and it starts off with a phone ringing and then basically it is a song done in the style of some dude speaking to someone and I find it annoying. It is very 80’s electro/brit/pop and I can’t profess to be a big connoseuir of this genre. The dude has really irritating vocals where he sounds out of breath and all “ooh, oohhhh” yeah. It’s a real bizarre track. The backing vocals are people laughing and giggling and going “oooh wooo”. Really I have no idea what is going on. This is way too affected and hip for me but I guess it was probably done with a sense of humour so what the hell, fair play to them. Overall I would say this was a really shit song.

Oh look there is another song here called “Drawing the Line Between Pants and Slacks”. It again is done with this kind of live feel. There is lots of guys doing hand claps, there is what sounds like a drum machine and they are just japing. This one has a thick guitar groove going and really I have no idea. This type of music is not within my pathetically small boundaries so I don’t know what they are up to. It sounds like a bunch of guys just fucking about in a practice session I guess. At the end there are loads of people booing. I joined in.

You will like this 7″ if you like pretty vinyl or you are friends with the band and you get the joke. For me, this goes way over my head. Like, whoosh.
