Grand Central - What Has Transpired - Tape (1999)

Labels: self released
Review by: Andy Malcolm

Lookee here, another demo tape by a Brit band. And hurrah! They play some stuff that you don’t hear much of over here. 3 tracks on the tape, 3 tracks of mid-paced, rocking melodic hardcore. First song “Never Say Goodbye” has a cool chorus where they get a little poppier, and this is backed with a kinda Texas Is The Reason sound on the verses. Vocals are dead good, at certain points they combine with the music and make me think of Dag Nasty.

They keep things going with “Solid State Memory”, starts off slow, then picks up pace. Another good track that is pretty catchy to boot. They round things off on “Set In Stone” which further establishes the bands sound. Both these two songs have quite a ‘rock’ feel to them too at times.

Yup, if you like your hardcore with a pinch of Dag Nasty, decent vocals, and to have decent tunes rather than a repetetive drum beat or shouting, then get yourself a long to Grand Central.
