Grand Ulena are pretty great, this is another of those bands that I`d never heard of but heard someone else playing in the shop and thought it sounded pretty fucking cool. It would be very easy to compare this band to L******g b**t or H***a but I wont.
They play really jazzy math rock which is filled with massive riffs and plenty of blast-beats (which is what a lot of these bands are missing!). At times they pull off a chord that will sound exactly like Clikitat Ikatowi or (for a closer to home reference) the Wolves (of Greece) and it’ll sound wicked.
Chris Morris should have got this band to do some of the soundtrack for Jam.
I don’t think this is the best band in the world or in the particular style (if you can call it that) but they manage to keep my attention and even make me freak out a bit and shout “stop it your messing with my braiiinnnnsss!!!!!” every now and then. Check it out.
