This is the posse known as Gravy Train’s debut release and if you’ve not heard them yet you’d be well advised to take note of the sleeve, which says “File Under 80s Rap Bitches”. Four tracks of Grrrl Rap with a keen interest in sex, they’ve recently toured with Bratmobile Stateside so they have the credentials. I guess one way to describe them would be to think of someone like Gene Defcon in a dance off with Neneh Cherry or Salt n Pepper! These bitches [and token homo] really do have some truly inspired lyrics, just look at “You Made Me Gay” with the lines “You’re missing out on hot ass humps cuz I spread legs like anthrax, and Kenny G type blowjobz cuz I play a mean skin sax”. I only wish I could make such amazing music with only a casio keyboard and drum machine. Take the Brat from Bratmobile, add a couple of 40 oz’s worth of humour polish off with a heavy dose of sex obsessed Rap Eighties style and what you’ll have is this!!! Though I don’t think you’ll be finding the recipe in fat tongued Jamie Oliver’s next book.
