Greyskull come roaring out of the traps with this boundless fucking energy that just about punches holes in the side of your head. For some reason they remind me a lot of Light The Fuse And Run, but with a denser, more muscular sound that puts them in a heftier league altogether. These guys blast through three tracks of frantic, slightly melodic, modern-sounding hardcore played with a barely-controlled fury that should bury most would-be contenders without even breaking a sweat “” they have the power indeed.
Bafabegiya (or however the hell you spell it”¦) dish it out on side two and deftly finish off a great little split release. They’re a scrawny-sounding bunch who’ve apparently thawed out the contents of a cryogenics lab housing the brains of several early 90s hardcore acts and harnessed the powers therein. This makes for fast, tinny guitars, rat-a-tat drums, strangled melodies and rasping, throaty yells along the lines of bands like Iconoclast, Born Against and Scapegrace, providing a back-to-basics take on hardcore that’s a slightly odd but not at all unappealing proposition in these days where jazz time signatures and technical trickery run rife.
