Hiding Place - At One Time Or Another - CD (2004)

And along comes another bunch of chancers hoping that their brand of guitar music will be the one that gets noticed and propels them to fame and fortune. For a reality check, bands like this should just go and look in a second hand record store in a place like Camden and see their records being sold for 50p or whatever. At least, that’s how it was a few years ago when I listened to “œalternative” rock bands who were waiting for their shot at the bigtime. I picked up an insane amount of CD’s that I didn’t really need in Camden, and eventually sold them to Ray in Norwich for £60 “” I had a big bag full of the fuckers.

Anyway, Hiding Place play pretty typical rock music, I could see this being played upstairs at the Waterfront to the drunks “” the kids staggering around, bumping into each other and playing air guitar. Strangely enough, this appears to be grunge. I guess they saw the success enjoyed by Stickleback and Creed and figured they could cash in. To keep some credibility they make sure that they filter their rather dated choice of musical genre through modern day “œpost-hardcore” emoting in the style of The One Hundred Reasons.

All in all, this is pretty arse really. This CD needs to be sent to Leslie Grantham so he can use it in an internet sex game.
