His Hero is Gone - the Plot Sickens - LP (2000)

Labels: Great American Steak Religion
Review by: Pete Burn

Holy shit, another 45rpm Lp, I love these things now (more volume!). This is just a totally punishing hardcore record in every respect, mixing up metal, crust and 80’s hardcore to come off like this decades equivalent of Rorschach (in terms of their pure nihilistic approach). This LP seems more urgent than the material I have heard previously, but they still break out their slower Carcass style parts. It seems that HHIG are also incorporating an early 90’s sound similar to Econochrist or even Born Against. I don’t really want to categorise this, other than telling you it is a solid hardcore record, which comes in a neat looking ‘Touch & Go’ quality gatefold sleeve. It’s good to know bands like this still exist, and are losing none of their power or intent.
