John Peel sadly passed away last September whilst on holiday but not before he invited San Diego’s masters of rock ‘n roll, Hot Snakes to Maida Vale studios to record these four songs.
Side a features Braintrust and This Mystery Decade off last year’s excellent Audit in Progress lp whilst side b offers two tracks from their debut, Automatic Midnight; No Hands and the title track.
I don’t know about anyone else but the one thing that made Audit in Progress hard to get into initially was the production which sounds lifeless and flat so it’s great to hear alternate records of Braintrust and This Mystery Decade and No Hands is a particular favourite of mine so all in all I’d say this was a pretty cruc 7″ for any self respecting Hot Snakes fan.
