Punk as anything UK hardcore. I’ve seen them live twice in the last few months which was really cool. Rarely have I seen such an energetic live set from a lead singer. Imbalance are always great live! This is their album from a couple of years ago, released before the 6 track EP Andy reviewed the other day.
Anyway, this really impressed me. Awesomely powerful, positive hardcore. Mostly political and/or social lyrics. Stuff that you just need to read along to as you listen really. So there are 15 belts of fast paced, energetic hardcore that will slap you around the face and leave you shellshocked. My favourite track of all is “Absurdity” which is an amazing song that really left an impact from their live set. Great melodic hardcore with awesome vocals, and thoughtful lyrics. And the title track “Spouting Rhetoric” left a vivid impression on my psyche too. A punishing, yet melodic track, with what sounds like a bit of dual vocalling on the shouty bits. Awesome. I’ve got this tune seriously stuck in my head!
If you want to check out one of the best hardcore bands peddling their wares these days, you could do little better than pick up an Imbalance release. They’re all consistently great. And this is a fine, fine example of what hardcore should be. Buy this yesterday!
