Ink & Dagger - Experiments In Nocturnal Sound & Energy - 7

Supposedly they all dress up as vampires and stuff on stage. Really. At least the music doesn’t sound like Marilyn Manson though. This is some cool shit.

“Philapsychosis” starts off very darkly, before breaking into some herky-jerky hardcore punk rock that is a bit whacked out and odd, though it manages to hang together, using aggressive driving guitars to plough it’s path.

Then there is “The 13th Dream” which is sort of nutty hardcore that jumps about a lot, with slightly manic, shoutily sung vocals. I haven’t really heard anything like this before, but it surely rocks. Best thing on here, and definitely the way to appeal to me if the music is hardcore. Following it is a remix of the song which sounds nothing like it. It’s like the music they had on the 11 O’Clock Show for the bits when they go: “Ali in the land of Wales, in the land of Wales!” and so on. Not quite sure if this is the best way to appeal to hardcore punksters, but hey! It’s cool that they are challenging the boundaries.

Different is good when good is different.
